NUSofting has released Sinnah, a new freeware VA synth plugin.
Sinnah is available in AU and VST plugin formats for Mac OS X and Windows,
supporting 32-bit and 64-bit hosts.
Sinnah is a VA synth, but instead of the standard subtractive resonant filter
it uses a resonant delay network.

SH-it Bass - Free Vst

SH-it Bass is a sampled bass sound from the Roland SH-101 synthesizer.

25 notes were carefully tuned and recorded from 3 layers for a total of 55 samples.
You can make your own sound by mixing between the main oscillator (osc 1+2 from the SH-101),
the sub oscillator and the noise generator.

Carma - Free Synth

The developement team Max Project and CPS have been released their first synthesizer
plugin together – Carma. The VST-synth for electronic music includes two different
oscillators with eight waveforms eachand a FM and Ring modulation option.
There are also two LFOs, a flexible matrix section for individual modulations,
an arpeggiator, some effects delay, reverb, EQ and a chorus. A filter section with
different filter modes like a 303 filter for acid sounds is also been given.

Cryologic - Free Synth

Cryologic is a soundfont library and a soundfont player very simple and easy to use.
The SF-Oscillators allows to layer up to three different sounds with separate controls
for level, pan, and octave shift for each osc. The filter is a classic state variable
filter tweakable also via the X-Y controller. The two arpeggiators are a powerful feature
which allows to create interesting patches, complex automatic bass lines, chord accompaniment
and complex textures. The onboard reverb, delay and an internal ring modulator effect provides
the final touch to this little yet powerful music production tool. A soundfont library of 456MB
is included.
Ring Modulation Effect: if you have a control joystick like those on Korg synths, assign
positive Y (joystick up) to CC#01 and negative Y (joystick down) to CC#02. This is the
easiest way to have more control over the sound (vibrato and ring modulation). If you don't
have a control joystick you can also use your modulation wheel for ring modulation
(assign it to CC#2) and control vibrato with aftertouch.

Crisalys - Free Synth

Crisalys is a software synthesizer characterized by a powerful audio engine which
can work up to 192Khz. The three oscillators are driven by custom waveforms designed
specifically to grant top quality sound in any situation. Each oscillator has built-in FM,
Ring Modulator and Cross Modulation options controlled by three separate internal LFOs.
The Ring Modulator can achieve sound characteristics that can go beyond the common
sonorities of this effect, thanks to an internal custom circuit which has been developed
for this purpose.
The audio path continues through two multifilters which can operate as state variable filters,
analog emulations or in EQ mode. The modulation section offers, in addition to the classic
controls (modulation wheel, aftertouch, velocity, etc.), four LFOs, two aux envelopes and two
step LFOs which can be used as modulation sources to create atmospheric pads, control the filters,
create rhythmic sequences and so on.
Each LFO has a special "Quantize" control which can be used to introduce a small (or huge,
if turned fully clockwise) variation to the LFO wave and sync speed.
Used on pads this can produce interesting effects, adding some granulosity to the sound.
The effect section includes a classic stereo flanger, a delay (which can work in classic or
cross mode), a compressor and a reverb. Crisalys features eight built-in step sequencers
(up to 32 steps) which can work all at the same time. The active pattern can be edited manually
or recorded in realtime using an external MIDI keyboard. The sequencer patterns can be stored
in the hard disk as separate pattern files or as a bank of 64 patterns.

d-lusion Rubberduck Bass Synth - Free

With this bass synthesizer released for Windows 95 in 1996 (way before
Propellerheads Rebirth, was available), d-lusion pioneered the market of
realtime software synthesizers on standard processors. Roughly based on the
the well known TB-303, Rubberduck's synthesis model consists of an oscillator
wave with a resonant filter sweep applied to it combined with an efficient
hardware sequencer design which resolves in the typical twisted, screaming,
bubbling bass sound that is often used in Acid House, Goa Trance, or Techno
productions. Rubberduck featured realtime digital resonant dynamic filters,
frequency and volume envelope (DCA, DCF), 4 basic waveforms, dual oscillator
sound generation (starting with version 2.0), a 224 note sequencer, a drum
section where samples could be synchroneous played back, an effect unit
(delay/feedback/distortion) and was fully Windows 95 compatible. User feedback
was overwhelming, ranging from "the door-bending bass response makes rebirths 303
section sound like a touch tone device" to "fucking brilliant" and the most famous
quote which says it all: "it is like fucking a hot hollywood bitch for the price of
a corner crack slut". On the other side Rubberduck received impressive press couverage,
from "KEYS" to "Future Music".

Atlantis - Free Synth

Atlantis is a unique synthesizer VSTi. It has nearly unlimited possibilities for creating new and exciting sounds! It is also a powerful effects module that can be used to process other audio.

3 true stereo morphing oscilators, with independant width, phase, spread, chorus, tuning, volume, envelope and panning feed into a pair of filters (with your standard algorithms and a lot of unique new favorites), a shaper (distortions and beyond), and a simple room modelling multitap filtered delay system with another pair of selectable filters. The routing of the filters and shaper can also be switched into a variety of configurations for further flexibility.

All the standard waveforms you would expect (sin, square, triangle, saw, noise)- and you can also import ANY waveform you like! Simply add a .wav file with the waveform you want to hear to the Data Folder (as specified in the Config Dialog) – stereo or mono, any samplerate or bitdepth you like, and Atlantis will let you use it for oscilators and LFOs. Samples are upsampled into very high resolution wavetables.

Every slider parameter can be controlled by ANY modulator. LFOs, Envelopes, MIDI Control Data, the current note, velocity, follower, or combinations of them can be used to modulate your sounds into expressive organic creations previously unheard by human ears.
